Tim Slekar: Ask Scott Walker and Mary Burke meaningful questions about education

News media are missing the point by covering the political back-and-forth over education policy between Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and challenger Mary Burke, says blogger Tim Slekar.
“Who cares?” writes Slekar, dean of the School of Education at Edgewood College, in response to a Wisconsin State Journal article about Walker’s Twitter attack on Burke’s track record as a member of the Madison School Board.
“Charters, choice, teachers, standards, blah, blah, blah. Our achievement gap is simply a measure of the opportunity we fail to provide children living in poverty,” Slekar writes in Busted Pencils, a new education blog.
Stop with the distractions and ask some meaningful questions. Better yet, ask the candidates one simple question, Slekar writes.
See Slekar's blog for that question.
