A personal invite from me to meet Karen Lewis and support CORE. | Fred Klonsky:

Please join us for an evening in support of a fighting teachers union in Chicago.

Please join us in Logan Square, for Cocktails and Conversation with Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis about the fight against the threatened closures of our public schools. Open bar and good eats. Limited tickets: Donate & RSVP now at http://coreteachers.com/411.

Logan Square is a recognized community of next generation activists. We understand that unlike classroom teachers, politicians might make reform, but they won’t bring fundamental and progressive change.

Logan Square activists have created community gardens, made our streets more bike and pedestrian friendly, created affordable housing, and opened local businesses. We’ve improved schools by joining local school councils, built bridges between the community and police to increase safety and police accountability, and even brought the Bloomingdale Trail from idea to reality.

Meanwhile public school students continue to suffer from violence and unequal schools, and are now patronage fodder for charter school privatization.

Karen Lewis and CPS teachers defied long odds and conventional political wisdom by standing up for our children, our schools, and our communities. Chicago education professionals, Logan Square residents, and people around our city have sparked a growing nationwide grassroots movement to save public education. Together, we are demonstrating the will to improve schools and make communities safer for children.
We hope you will join us to contribute and learn more about this growing movement and what it means for you, your family, and our community.

Open bar, good eats, reserve your ticket at http://coreteachers.com/411
