Oh the excitement, the anticipation, the potential !  Yes, it is now upon us. Beginning on February 1st, the State of Illinois will be launching its new state survey on education. The survey, believed to be one of the largest state surveys of its kind in the nation is supposed to provide crucial information that will lead to improved schools. The survey will gather “candid” information on how teachers are teaching, students are learning, and principals are leading.
According to enthusiastic education reformers, this survey should be the most important ingredient ever used when it comes to transforming our schools into the successful places that they need to be. Never mind about the hundreds of other products of education reform that have been tried in the last few decades, this one is the one that will truly make a difference.
Education reformers have so much in common with all the people in past history who have searched for that one elusive place or method that would lead to greatness.
