INDUSTRY - Hundreds of parents on Friday got an all-day education on how to understand their growing children and finding ways to make going to college a reality.
More than 800 parents attended the 16th annual Parent Involvement Academy, a parent educational program organized by several San Gabriel Valley unified school districts, including Bassett, El Monte City, El Monte Union, Montebello and Rowland.
The Los Angeles County Office of Education Head Start division also participated in the program, funded through Title I funds and themed "Building Bridges from Home to College."
"We're retooling our parents for the future, and everything here is geared for our parents to build their knowledge and groom their children to go to college and make it an expectation," said Albert Michel,
