Sac City middle school consolidation plan criticized

Sutter Middle School seemingly dodged one consolidation plan, but it still may have a fight on its hands to preserve what some describe as a jewel of the city's school system.
Sutter parents and students turned out at the Sacramento City Unified School District meeting Thursday night to protest a trustee proposal to merge the school with the lower-performing and sparsely populated Kit Carson Middle School, and convert Sutter into a high school serving east Sacramento.
